Iron Man

Iron Man.  One of Marvel’s most well known superheroes and a self proclaimed genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist (the first superhero I ever heard of).  This is the superhero of the MCU that we have seen evolve the most.  While his ways have not changed much, his morals have.  He has lost everything and built himself back up from the ground just to have it ripped away again and have to start from the beginning.  We have gotten very in depth looks into his personal life and the emotional struggles he has gone through as a result of trying to fix everything on his own.  I’m sure many people have related with his struggles with depression and his frequent panic attacks.  Marvel has made sure that no matter what Iron Man goes through and how many people he saves, we remember there is a human inside that suit.  Tony Stark is inside that suit and it will hurt if he falls.

Tony Stark is the son of the late Maria and Howard Stark.  Howard Stark was an inventor that came onto the scene around WWII.  He was one of the scientists behind the serum that was used on Steve Rogers and also came up with the design for the shield that makes him so recognizable as Captain America.  Sadly, as we later find out, Tony’s parents were killed in an accident caused by the Winter Soldier.  This and the fact that the relationship between Tony and his father was not the best sparked much of the bitterness we see in Iron Man’s solo films.  Tony is the driving force behind most of the technology we see in the Marvel films.  Sadly, one of the things he created with the help of Bruce Banner started the conflict that made up the movie Age of Ultron.  This is also where the tension between Tony and Steve Rogers becomes very evident.

We first see Tony Stark in his solo movie, Iron Man (2008).  He then appears briefly in The Incredible Hulk (2008) and then we see him again in his second solo movie, Iron Man 2 (2010).  We see him again in Marvel’s The Avengers (2011) where all of the Avengers come together!!!  In 2013 Iron Man 3 was released and to date is the final Iron Man movie though we see Tony Stark in multiple other Marvel movies.

I hope you enjoyed this post!  As always tell me what you thought in the comments.  Who do you want to read about next?  I would love to know!!!

Black Widow

Hello everyone!  Today I will be posting about Black Widow.  She is just about my favorite character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I wanted to share a little bit about her background.

Name: Natalia Alianovna Romanova, Natasha Romanoff

Abilities —

  • athleticism
  • expert taction
  • martial artist
  • secret agent
  • spy
  • assassin
  • expert marksman
  • master of various forms of hand to hand combat

Natalia Romanova (Natasha Romanoff) was born around 1928 in Volgograd, Russia.  She was saved from a burning building by Ivan Petrovitch Bezukhov during an early attack on Stalingrad by enemy forces.  Her training began in the late 1930’s after she attracted the attention of Soviet intelligence and was recruited by the KGB.  She excelled in training as an assassin for the Russian government.  Her training was held in a place known as the Red Room.

She received the Red Room’s variant of the Super Soldier serum(what was used on Captain America and The Winter Soldier).  Her mental and physical traits were enhanced dramatically.  Her body is physically enhanced to resist aging and disease and heals much faster than the average human’s body.  Black Widow has abilities greater than that of an Olympic athlete and has an amazing reaction time that borders on the edge of superhuman level.  She possesses the ability to mask her emotions perfectly and I’m sure has the best time at poker.  She can also process multiple information streams and can rapidly respond to changing tactical situations.  Captain America has similar abilities in the area.  She was recruited for S.H.I.E.L.D by Hawkeye after he was sent to eliminate her.

She can speak many language and those with similar roots

This includes:

  1. Russian (native language)
  2. English
  3. French
  4. German
  5. Bosnian
  6. Hungarian
  7. Romanian
  8. Castilian Spanish
  9. Czech
  10. Italian
  11. Latin
  12. Dutch
  13. Arabic
  14. American Sign Language – for Hawkeye obviously 🙂
